En estos días he tenido la suerte de encontrarme a
George. Hablas con él y exuda tranquilidad. Su voz es pausada, lenta, muy baja.
Parece que le da vergüenza mirarte a los ojos. Sólo tiene 21 años y el destino
ha permitido que nos topáramos. Estaba en la consulta del doctor por un pequeño
resfriado que tengo (otro día os enseñaré la consulta del doctor). Se me acercó
y me preguntó si quería ir con él a misa ??. Le dije que no intentara
convencerme de nada; que yo tengo mi opinión sobre la fe y las iglesias. El caso
es que empezamos a hablar de lo humano y lo Divino y me contó sus inquietudes y
lo que quiere hacer el resto de su vida. Lleva años intentando encontrar a
alguien que le ayude a crear una ONG para poder ayudar a tantos y tantos niños y
niñas, sobre todo niñas, que están deambulando por las calles sin nadie que se
preocupe de ellos.
Aquí existen muchas, demasiadas ONGs, pero que
realmente funcionen, no conozco más que dos, de 10 que he visitado, desde que
estoy aquí. Una de ellas en la escuela de sordos sobre la que os hablaré en otro
artículo y otra una ONG que ha fundado una compañera voluntaria que se dedicará
a atender a huérfanos desde la infancia. El problema aquí es el nivel de
corrupción que existe en todas las esferas de la sociedad. La necesidad es tan
grande que, cuando se dispone de dinero, es fácil caer en la tentación de
dedicarlo a solventar problemas personales. No lo critico, sólo lo explico.
Hasta puedo entenderlo.
George sabe esto, lo conoce muy bien; conoce a su
gente y sabe que si se dedica el dinero a ayudar a la gente, se puede hacer
mucho. Además tiene ideas muy interesantes. Una de ellas es limpiar el entorno
de la miseria que nos rodea. Es difícil explicar lo que es la suciedad aquí. El
concepto de suciedad que tenemos los occidentales se aleja totalmente de la
auténtica realidad aquí. Se vive rodeado de ella. Cuando me voy a la cama
siempre digo a mis compañeros que tengo que ir a acostar y cantar la nana a mis
'animalitos'. Entre esos 'animalitos' se encuentran las ratas, los lagartos de
tres especies y cucarachas varias. Por las calles es imposible evitar andar
sobre el barro, plásticos, botellas, desechos de comida, etc... Como iba
diciendo, él quiere educar a los niños que tenga, dedicando un día a la semana a
limpiar el entorno. Eso es realmente novedoso entre esta gente. Todas sus ideas
me han parecido de lo más interesante, así que he decidido crear con él una ONG.
No sé cómo lo vamos a hacer, pero confiamos en la suerte y un poco de ayuda de
todos vosotros. Os contaré cómo van las cosas...

As God’s people, it’s important for us to give special attention to children, especially the destitute children ,they are everywhere in most urban cities, street corners, quarters ,camps, slums ,under the bridge etc. Their story is that of squalid living, abject poverty, neglect and despair.
But we can bring hope to them; many of them are frustrated and bereft of a chance to live. Many of them die every day out of starvation with no one to help, most have turned into beggars in the streets .A child turned into a beggar in a tender age would surely become a violent adult. He would take out his anger and frustration on the society. This is some of the reasons for the alarming rates of violent, crimes in the ghettoes and inner cities, the reason we must do something now.
According to the Bible, children are blessings and a gift from God(Ps 127:3).They’re a gift of trust and God expect them to be raised in the right way(Prov 22:6),our Lord Jesus Himself portrayed such love to the little children during His earthly ministry. On occasion, He rebuked those who tried to stop the little children from coming to Him (Mtt 19:13-15).it’s therefore paramount for us to give special attention and care to children whether they are our biological children or not. It’s your responsibility to reach them and give them hope and love.
You must understand that, when you save chidren you save the future. You may be the one to change that child who is being programmed from his youth to destroy. In the same way, you may preserve that child life who may save or preserve your life or your child’s life in years to come ,therefore, save the children, give them your resources your finances and your material blessings to help provide for them today.
